Welcome to Osaka Gakugei Canadian International School (OGCIS) where we offer students an opportunity to earn a double diploma alongside our host school Osaka Gakugei Senior High School. As the principal of OGCIS, I am pleased and honoured to be part of this incredible program which opens many doors into postsecondary education for graduates of the OGCIS Double Diploma Program.
The British Columbia education system is well known around the world for academic excellence, focus on developing the core competencies required in today’s global society, and the innovative and creative solutions to educating students for a technologically developing world. It is consistently ranked highly in many categories and our educational leaders are regularly invited to present our work to other jurisdictions in many countries.
The OGCIS Double Diploma Program and the Japanese host school are accredited by our respective ministries of education and through yearly inspections, we ensure that our high standards continue to be maintained.
Our staff is fully trained and have obtained their BC Teaching Certificate after completing a rigorous teacher education program in BC or another jurisdiction. Their dedication to teaching and their care for the academic success and social-emotional well-being of their students is second to none.
The Double Diploma Program is a challenging, yet rewarding, academic program for students who are working towards a both a BC Dogwood Diploma and a Japanese Graduation Diploma. One major goal of this program is to develop students’ English language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing while preparing students for entry into top Japanese or overseas universities and colleges to pursue further studies in an area of their choice.
Students at OGCIS receive instruction in English for the BC curricular content and develop their core competencies based on a redesigned curriculum that focuses on developing strong communication strategies, creative and critical thinking skills and abilities, and positive personal and cultural identity. These skills are highly prioritized by universities and many organizations and corporations around the world. Being excellent communicators in both Japanese and English will enhance their personal identity and social responsibility as they acquire a global perspective in a rapidly changing international world.
Our mandate is to enable each student to reach their full potential while at OGCIS and prepare them for the challenges of life at university and beyond, whether that be in Japan or in another country.
I want to thank you for exploring OGCIS as a viable and excellent option for the education of your children and we look forward to helping them develop into potential leaders of the next generation.
